Sustainability at Growing Karma
Sustainable tea cultivation with permaculture – Holistic use of Camellia sinensis
At Growing Karma, we use permaculture principles to practice sustainable and regenerative agriculture. Our goal is to promote natural cycles, minimize waste, and use resources efficiently.
Holistic use of the tea plant
In our sustainable agriculture we use all parts of the Camellia sinensis :
- Leaves: Young leaves are processed into high-quality green tea, black tea and matcha .
- Older leaves and stems: These serve as the basis for chutneys, hot sauces and other culinary products .
- Pruning residues and organic material: Composting creates nutrient-rich humus, which improves the soil and promotes plant growth.
Circular economy and resource conservation
Our approach follows the principle of "produce no waste." By creating closed loops, we use resources efficiently and avoid waste. Organic residues are composted and used as natural fertilizer to maintain and improve soil fertility.
Promoting biodiversity
Our permaculture creates a stable and resilient ecosystem . By cultivating diverse plant species and promoting beneficial organisms, we increase biodiversity and strengthen natural defense mechanisms against pests.
Sustainable energy and water use
We rely on renewable energies and efficient water use:
- Rainwater is collected and used for irrigation.
- Solar energy powers vital operations and reduces our ecological footprint.
This resource-saving approach contributes to the environmental friendliness of our tea cultivation.
Education and community
A central component of our work is sharing knowledge about sustainable agriculture and permaculture . Through workshops and tours, we aim to raise awareness of organic practices and inspire others to adopt sustainable farming methods.
Growing Karma – Sustainable Agriculture for the Future
At Growing Karma, we combine traditional permaculture principles with innovative methods to create sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture. Through the full utilization of our plants and closed cycles, we actively contribute to environmental protection while offering high-quality, sustainable products to our customers.
