Description

In the tea ceremony, it is not just the matcha bowls that play an important role; the matcha containers, also known as natsume, are a very important component. The fine matcha powder looks more beautiful and of higher quality in a suitable container, and the powder is also easier to remove.

This beautiful matcha container has been hand painted and features a blue/red grape motif, making every tea ceremony a special moment.

NATSUME (棗)

Natsume is the Japanese name for jujube, the red date, whose shape is said to resemble the tea caddy. These tea containers are an important part of the Japanese tea ceremonies Sado / Chado (茶道) The Way of Tea, as well as in more casual ceremonies, the Chakai tea meetings (茶会).

The matcha powder is stored in the containers before it is whipped into the tea bowl. The tea tins are a highly valued and valuable utensil in every matcha ceremony.

Please note that real Natsume are not suitable for long-term storage of matcha powder. For reasons of quality and freshness, we recommend that you always store your matcha tightly closed and in a cool place.

Care and cleaning of your Natsume

You can wipe your tea container with a soft, dry cloth after use. Of course, you can also use a slightly damp cloth, but please always wipe it with a dry cloth afterwards to remove any remaining moisture from the surface.

Use your Natsume regularly so that it comes into contact with air and no moisture can build up. However, we ask that you do not expose the Natsume to strong sunlight for long periods of time, as this can damage the material and the varnish.
